What Services Are Available?

The Polk County Health Department is strongly committed to safeguarding the quality of our drinking water. The Environmental Public Health Division provides the following programs and services to ensure drinking water in the county is free from disease producing germs and chemical pollutants.

Public Drinking Water Program

This program ensures compliance with the federal and state safe drinking water standards for public water systems and is performed in partnership with the Florida Department of Environmental Protection. Environmental Public Health staff review and permit water treatment plant and water main extensions, review construction applications and plans, inspect water systems, and monitor public drinking water systems’ compliance with bacterial and chemical contaminant standards.
