What Services Are Available?

Storage Tank Regulation Program staff inspect facilities with regulated pollutant storage tank systems to ensure they are properly constructed, maintained, and operated in accordance with state requirements. This is to protect the public drinking water supply by preventing undetected leaks of stored pollutants from contaminating groundwater.

The program, which covers Polk and Hardee counties, is the result of a partnership between the Polk County Health Department and the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (DEP). Complete information regarding the regulations, including guidance documents, approved equipment, and required forms, can be found at the DEP Storage Tank Regulation webpage: Storage Tank Regulation: Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) (link opens in a new window).

Our office advises current and prospective storage tank facility owners, as well as the general public, on all program-related matters. We routinely provide information on the status of regulated facilities and can assist in determining the specific requirements for tank systems of various sizes and types.
